Time for a quick nap – 2:30pm
When I left the community center, I found myself a shopping cart. I placed my awkwardly large and annoying garbage bag in it and started pushing the cart towards Gastown. Once I entered Gastown, I started heading towards the railways. I was tired and needed to rest for a bit.
I’m not sure how long I slept for but the security guard, who was patrolling the alley, woke me up. She said “this is private property and you are not allowed to sleep here”. She continued saying that, not only is this private property, but I could potentially get hurt when the shop-owners open the door (see photo). Luckily, that did not happen to me.
She was very polite in her request and I obeyed her orders without hesitation. In fact, I exchanged frequent smiles with her during our conversation. So without a place to go or a place to be, I started to pack up my sleeping bag and my belongings. While I was packing up my things, I met the next great person in my journey, Sergei.
