Alley behind Water Street
After the Carnegie Community Center, I went to the alley behind Water Street again. I wanted to hang out there for a bit. When I arrived, a homeless man was already spending time there. I told him that I have slept here before.
He told me similar things that Sergei had said about the security guard here: “If she doesn’t like you, she will kick you out.” He told me to respect her. Towards the end of our conversation, he gave me some pointers on how to avoid rats crawling onto me during the middle of the night.
He said, “Pee here and pee there; that should prevent them from getting close to you.” Pee is a great deterrent for rats. I started smirking a bit and admitted that I have slept here a few times without his advice. I guess a rat could have crawled on me while I was sleeping. As long as I didn’t wake up to see a rat on top of me, what I do not know cannot hurt me.
